Join CP’s Bible Plan & Book Club this quarter, as we read “We Are the Culture” by Arionne Nettles.
Born and raised in the Englewood community on the South Side of Chicago, Arionne Nettles shares an unbreakable bond with the city she calls home. A multifaceted individual, she is a journalist, writer, lecturer, professor, poet, and a passionate admirer of all things Chicago. Driven by the belief that everyone deserves education and the opportunity to learn, Nettles entered the sphere of education, inspired by the values instilled by her family. This same philosophy motivated her to write her book, “We Are The Culture: Black Chicago’s Influence On Everything.” (story by The Chicago Defender 4.2.24) Purchase a copy of her book online at our fave Chicago Black owned Bookstore: Semicolon. CityPoint Community Church to host at The Bridge July 2nd.
In partnership, with Mission:USA, CityPoint Community Church serves as the “Host Team” for The Bridge, a weekly program designed to help men and women coming out of prison find a new church home. Volunteers are needed to help facilitate the Tuesday night service from welcoming visitors, serving food and worshipping along with visitors. Volunteers will meet at 1443 Roosevelt Road Chicago, IL 60608 (Near Roosevelt and Ashland) Please wear your CityPoint Community shirts, or Black t-shirt, jeans and comfortable shoes. Sign up here.
